How Elcee’s Rescue Began

Elcee’s Rescue began in October 2024 when 2 friends, with over 40  years experience with rescue dogs, and over 10 years experience of working in Rescue, took a leap of faith and decided to set up a Dog Rescue of their own. The name came from both of their initials L&C – and LC’s rescue became Elcee’s Rescue!

Our Team

Lynne Page – Founder/Owner
  • Lynne is passionate about dogs, and has worked in rescue for around 10 years.  She works full-time for the Rescue, on a VOLUNTARY basis.
  • Lynne is responsible for overseeing all areas of the Rescue, working with a small number of committed volunteers.
  • Her role involves agreeing all adoptions, recruiting and supporting fosterers and looking after the dogs in their care.
  • A large part of her role is working closely with our Rescuers and safe shelters in Romania, reserving dogs from the kill shelters, or from a life on the streets, and ensuring their safety and care whilst they are undergoing preparation, tests and veterinary treatment prior to travelling to the UK.
  • She is also responsible for promoting all dogs for adoption, reviewing all applications and ensuring that all dogs are matched to the most suitable homes, depending on their temperament and needs.
  • Lynne owns six dogs of her own, including 4 rescue dogs (all failed fosters!) and still continues to foster dogs herself for Elcee’s Rescue.
Sandra Emery – Administration Lead and Rescue  Co-ordinator
  • Sandra has lots of experience of Rescue dogs, and has worked alongside Lynne for many years.
  • Sandra Manages the accounts for the Rescue which involves:
    • accurately recording all income and expenditure
    • ensures all receipts are provided and filed in a timely manner
    • Prepares and submits full annual accounts to our Accountant.
  • Working alongside Lynne, her other key responsibilities include
    • ensuring smooth co-ordination between adopters, foster carers and dogs in their care.
    • supporting foster carers throughout the fostering journey and being the primary point of contact for foster-related queries and guidance
    • screening potential adopters and matching dogs to the most suitable homes
    • ensures compliance with Rescue policies and procedures
  • Sandra owns 3 dogs of her own (all Rescues), and is also a key fosterer for the Elcee’s Rescue, having had lots of experience with shy/nervous dogs.
Helen Greenhalgh

Fundraising Manager/Foster Co-ordinator
(Elcee’s Rescue holds a fundraising licence)

Helen is responsible for:

    • managing  and promoting all online auctions and buy-it-now items.
    • managing other fundraising activities such as raffles, competitions etc
    • liaising with all buyers/winners of items and all subsequent packaging and posting.
  • Helen is also a foster co-ordinator, and assists fosters with dogs in their care, offering help, support and advice.
  • Helen has 5 dogs of her own (mostly Rescue dogs) one of which is from Elcee’s Rescue.
Sue Whiterod: Administration & Home-Check Co-ordinator
  • Sue is responsible for requesting all independent home checks with the National Home Check Team, prior to any adoption.
  • She liaises with the applicant and the home checker to arrange a suitable date/time for this to take place, and ensures the home check report is submitted to the Rescue in a timely manner for review.
  • Sue is also responsible for emailing all our adopters once the dog has moved to their forever home, and asking them to provide a written review of how they found the experience of Adopting from Elcee’s Rescue, which is then published on our website Reviews page
  • Starting in 2026, Sue will be working closely with Sandra to write a quarterly newsletter which will be emailed to all adopters and supporters who have set up a regular monthly donation to Elcee’s Rescue, keeping everyone informed on what’s been happening over the last 3 months, and lots more!

We believe every dog deserves a chance

We believe every dog deserves a chance, and we do our very best to ensure each and every dog finds a home that is most suited to their temperament and needs.  This is to ensure  they can live free from fear, be kept warm, fed and well nourished, and receive the best possible care, to enable them to live a full and active life.

All our dogs go into foster homes initially, where they are fully assessed, so we know as much as possible about each dog so we can match them to the best possible homes.

We also offer Lifetime Rescue Backup for all our adopted dogs, so that if the owners are no longer able to take care of the dog, for whatever reason, they come back into Rescue and Elcee’s will find them another suitable home.

To enable our Rescue to be successful we rely on the help of our supporters, who kindly donate money each month to help pay our bills, or organise small individual fund raising events themselves to help raise funds.

We have a Facebook group and a Facebook page which helps raise funds too and promotes our dogs looking for homes.

Non-profit organisation

We are a non-profit organisation and 100% of every donation and funds raised coming into the rescue are used to help more dogs.

We all work as Volunteers donating ALL our time and effort for free to ensure we can help as many dogs as possible.
